Bears Finish in 7th at Ivy Championships

PRINCETON, NJ - The Brown men's swimming & diving team finished in 7th place at the 2009 Ivy League Championships with a total of 616.5 points. Princeton won the Championship with 1663.5 points, over 300 more than second-place Harvard, which earned 1311.5 points. Cornell (1095) and Yale (1033.5) also earned more than 1000 points, and Columbia (862.5), Penn (808.5), and Dartmouth (426) rounded out the field.

Brown opened the final day of competition with a 19th place finish in the 1650 free, as sophomore Sam Speroni (Sandwich, MA) posted a time of 16:20.81. Sophomore Ryan Kikuchi (Temecula, CA) then earned a ninth place finish in the 200 back, swimming a time of 1:47.33, while junior Zack Levko (Wildwood, MO) was 17th with a time of 1:50.00

Next up was a second place finish for senior Daniel Ricketts (Baltimore, MD) in the 100 free, as he posted a time of 43.17. Junior Trent Huxley (Bellevue, WA) was 14th with a time of 45.76.

Sophomore Conor Carlucci (New City, NY) led Brown in the 200 breast, earning 19th with a time of 2:03.26, while senior Richard Alexander (Victoria, BC) placed eighth in the 200 fly to lead the Bears in that event, touching the wall in 1:48.72.

Junior CJ Kambe (Unionville, CT) placed 13th on the 3-meter dive, scoring a 256.05 to close out the diving action.

In the final event of the day, the 400 free relay team of Ricketts, Huxley, junior Tucker Wetmore (Weston, MA), and senior David Koweek (Hudson, NY) placed 6th with a time of 2:59.74.
