Brown Holds Position, Finishes 2007 EISL Championship In Seventh

Princeton, NJ - Led by a solid performance from junior Brian Kelly (Weston, MA), the Brown men's swimming and diving team capped the EISL Championships with a seventh-place finish on Saturday. Kelly finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.81 seconds, while the Bears brought their three-day point total to 624. Princeton took the EISL Championship with 1405 points, followed by Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, and Navy. Penn and Dartmouth placed eighth and ninth, respectively.

The day began with the grueling 1,650-yard freestyle, in which junior Peter Volosin (Roanoke, VA) placed 12th with a finals time of 15:46.27. Junior Kevin Hug (Tampa, FL) followed with a 17th-place showing in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:49.71.

After Kelly's turn in the 100-yard free, senior Michael O'Mara (Reno, NV) finished 20th in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:07.15. The 200-yard butterfly came next, and sophomore Daniel Ricketts (Baltimore, MD) had the Bears second-best individual showing, coming in 10th at 1:49.57.

The divers came next for the three-meter finals. Sophomore William Kai Robinson (Vashon, WA) led Brown, finishing 14th with a score of 286.60. Freshman CJ Kambe (Unionville, CT) was not far behind in 16th, earning a score of 266.75. Finally, the meet ended with the 400-yard medley relay, in which the team of Hug, O'Mara, Ricketts and Kelly placed seventh with a time of 3:21.11.
