Bears Defeat Penn, 174.5-125.5

PHILDAELPHIA, PA - The Brown men's swimming & diving team picked up a 174.5-125.5 victory over Penn on Saturday afternoon. Michael O'Mara wins three events, while Peter Volosin, Kevin Hug, and Daniel Ricketts each win two en route to the Bears' victory.

Brown opened the meet taking second in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Hug, O'Mara, Richard Alexander, and Brian Kelly earning a time of 1:35.85. Volosin won the first individual event of the day, swimming a time of 9:36.60 in the 1000 free. Rickets then won the 200 free with a time of 1:42.48, while Hug earned first in the 100 back with a time of 52.59.

O'Mara picked up first place in the next event, swimming a 58.13 in the 100 breast. Alexander was the Bears' top finisher in the 200 fly, earning second with a time of 1:53.14, while Kelly took second in the 50 free with a time of 21.73.

Kelly then won his next event, swimming a time of 46.92 in the 100 free, while Hug picked up his second first place finish with a 1:56.21 in the 200 back. O'Mara won his second event of the day, swimming a 2:07.29 in the 200 breast, and Volosin followed with his second win of the day, swimming a 4:38.74 in the 500 free.

Rickets posted a time of 51.25 in the 100 fly for his second victory of the afternoon, while O'Mara swam a 1:56.03 in the 200 IM for his third victory of the day. In the final swimming event of the meet, the Bears' team of Trent Huxley, Kelly, Hug, and Rickets earned first place with a time of 3:08.34 in the 400 free relay.

In diving action, the Bears took 1st-3rd in both events with CJ Kambe winning the 1-meter with a score of 306.15 and William Kai Robinson winning the 3-meter with a score of 322.50.
