Men's Swimming and Diving Drops 179-116 Decision to Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Brown men's swimming and diving squad dropped its second consecutive Ivy League contest in a 179-116 loss to Penn on Saturday at Sheerr Pool.

 

Tommy Glenn (Haddonfield, N.J.) claimed titles in the 200-Yard Butterfly (1:50.72) as well as the 200-Yard Freestyle (1:40.46) on Saturday before placing third in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a mark of 45.98.  Glenn joined forces with teammates Jeffrey Strausser (Lafayette, Calif.), Alex Pascal (Longmeadow, Mass.), and Jack Nee (Pepper Pike, Ohio) to take home the crown in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay (3:05.55).

 

Cory Mayfield (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) and Connor Lohman (Prospect, Ky.) scored the other two victories of the day for the Bears.  Mayfield outlasted Penn's Bradley Wachenfeld in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:36.23 while Lohman claimed victory in the 200-Yard Individual Medley (1:54.75).  Teammates Christopher Meyers (Milwaukee, Wisc.) and Thomas Mercurio (Novato, Calif.) placed second and third in the event with times of 1:58.96 and 1:59.94, respectively.

 

In diving action, sophomore Sazzy Gourley (Charlotte, N.C.) tallied a second place finish in the three-meter diving event with a mark 308.10.

 

Brown will return to the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center next week as the play host to Bryant on Friday and Columbia on Saturday.
