Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Providence, 121-67

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's swimming and diving squad continued its early season success on Saturday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, defeating Providence by a score of 121-67.


The Bears swept all 11 events on Saturday, led by Corey Mayfield's (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) titles in the 200 Yard Individual Medley and 500 Yard Freestyle.  The sophomore recorded a mark of 1:56.28 in the 200 Yard IM and a time of 4:38.05 in the 500 Yard Freestyle.


The quartet of Alex Pascal (Longmeadow, Mass.), Christopher Meyers (Milwaukee, Wisc.), Brian Barr (Martinsville, N.J.), and Oliver Diamond (Salt Lake City, Utah) paced the Bears to a victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:36.11.


Brown also got victories from Kai Wombacher (Apex, N.C.), Kevin Mertz (Santa Rosa, Calif.), Jeffrey Strausser (Lafayette, Calif.), Nicholas Johnston (Pleasanton, Calif.), and Connor Lohman (Prospect, Ky.).


Strausser, Daniel Klotz (Berlin, Conn.), Pascal, and Jack Nee (Pepper Pike, Ohio) all teamed up to take home the crown in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a mark of 1:24.21.


The Bears will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Cambridge to take on Ivy League foe, Harvard, at 12 p.m.
