The Brown men's Squash Team competed for the Hoehn Cup in the B Division of the Team Nationals at Harvard and finished on Sunday, improving their early season ranking of #16 to #14, despite a close 6-3 loss to Bowdoin.
The Bear's first match was a four hour and 15 minute marathon against eventual Hoehn Cup winner Bates.
Seven matches went to four or five games. Next up was #14 ranked Franklin & Marshall. The Bears pulled through 6-3 with terrific displays by senior captain Ed Cerullo at #1, #4 freshman Adrian Leanza, #5 freshman Evan Besser, #6 senior North Whipple, a gutsy display by #7 sophomore Pat Davis and sophomore #9 Alex Heitzmann, who won in four competitively fought games.
The playoff for 13/14 was a well-contested affair with the match of the day belonging to freshman #3 Ross Harrow who narrowly lost 3-2, 10-8 in the fifth in a marathon match. Brown winners were senior Ed Cerullo at #1, freshman Evan Besser at #5 and another marathon from sophomore Pat Davis at #7, who had a come from behind win 3-2.
