Nov. 2, 2006

Providence, RI - The Brown men's soccer team will match up at 8:06 p.m. on Friday against Yale. The battle between two talented Ivy League teams will be televised live by the Fox Soccer Channel as part of its College Match of the Week series in partnership with the National Soccer Coaches Association.

Brown (10-3-3, 3-1-2), who brings a four-game unbeaten streak to Stevenson Field on Friday night, is coming off a 0-0 tie against Penn last week as well as two previous wins against Cornell (2-0) and then ranked #24 Colgate (3-1). Sophomore Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) leads the Bears in scoring with eight goals and 16 points and senior Andrew Daniels (Milwaukee, WI) follows behind with five goals, four assists and 14 points.

The Bulldogs are coming off two straight wins, including a 4-3 victory over Columbia last Saturday. James Stewart leads the team with a total of five goals and four assists for 14 points and Alex Numms follows closely behind with four goals, five assists and 13 points.

Yale and Brown are meeting for the 78th time and have won six out of the last eleven matches against the Bulldogs. But the all-time record stands in favor of Yale as Brown stands at 29-38-11 in the series. Last year, the Bulldogs edged the Bears 2-1 as Yale, Brown and Dartmouth all shared the Ivy League title last fall.
