Providence. RI - After helping Brown to its first Ivy League victory with a 2-1 overtime win over Princeton on Saturday evening, freshman goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) has been named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week.
Grandstrand entered the game with only 18 minutes remaining in the second half with the Bears down 1-0. He then proceeded to make two great saves that kept Princeton from finding the net again. Brown got its offense rolling in the 86th minute of play, when sophomore Christopher Roland (Rochester, NY) tied it up and sent the game into overtime.
Grandstrand stood tall again in overtime, and Brown sophomore Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA) blasted one into the goal just five minutes in to end the game. Grandstrand is currently undefeated with a 4-0-1 record, including one shutout, and has tallied 16 saves on the season.
