Providence, RI - The 20th ranked Brown men's soccer team will travel to in-state rival University of Rhode Island on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. match. The game will be televised live by Cox 3 in Rhode Island. The Bears are fresh off a second place finish at the Stanford Nike Tournament where they shutout #4 Cal and #5 Stanford in a pair of 0-0 ties. Senior goalkeeper Chris Gomez and freshman defender Laurent Manuel were selected the Ivy Player and Rookie of the Week respectively. Brown also re-entered the national rankings at #20 this week. URI was previously ranked 24th but after back-to-back losses, the Rams have dropped out of the poll.
It will the the 45th meeting between the two teams. Brown holds a commanding 31-12-1 lead in the all-time series. The Rams won last year's meeting, 2-1.The Bears took a 2-0 victory two year's ago in Kingston. The Rams have won three of the last four meetings since Brown took a 2-1 overtime victory in the 1999 NCAA Tournament.
