Sept. 13, 2007

Providence, RI - Men's Soccer junior defender Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) has recently been named to Soccer America's Men's Team of the Week. Bernstein joins the team with 10 other student-athletes who have all made an impact on their team's success in this previous week's games.

The Bears (2-0-0) are coming off wins against No. 5 Santa Clara (2-1) and Fordham (3-1) en route to winning the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic title last weekend. Bernstein was named the tournament's Defensive Most Valuable Player, as well as to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Prior to the season, Bernstein earned a spot on the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy watchlist, as well.

Brown takes on the University of Maine at 3:00 p.m. today. It marks the seventh meeting between the two teams as the Bears hold a 1-3-2 overall record against the Black Bears. Their last meeting came in 1994, when Maine defeated Brown 1-0. The Bears win against Maine came in 1991 in a 1-0 victory.
