Hanover, NH - The Brown men's soccer team (9-7-1, 3-4 Ivy) ended the 2008 regular season with a 2-0 loss to Dartmouth College (11-5-1, 5-1-1vy) during tonight's nationally televised game. The Big Green tallied a goal in both the first and second half, and remains in the hunt for a share of the Ivy League title.
Dartmouth's Andrew Olson tallied the team's first goal of the evening when he nailed one past sophomore goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN). Olson picked up a ball that deflected off a Brown defender, and was able to put his squad on the scoreboard at the 18:03 mark.
Midway through the second stanza, Lucky Mkosana's breakaway couldn't be stopped, as he droved another one past Grandstrand to increase the Big Green's lead to 2-0 at the 60:19 mark.
Brown posted five shots tonight, as sophomore Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) tallied two, and rookies Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) and Austin Mandel (Tarzana, CA) had one each. The Bears owned a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks this evening, tallying two in the first and three in the second half.
Dartmouth's goalkeeper, Sean Milligan picked up two saves in the win and increased his record to 11-5-1 on the year, as Grandstrand dropped to 3-5-0. Senior Jarrett Leech (Manakin-Sabot, VA) came in for relief, playing 21 minutes in net ending the season with a 6-2-1 record.
