Men's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Loss to Yale

Nov. 8, 2008

Providence, RI - The Brown men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 senior night loss to the Yale Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. Aden Henry-Farina and Sam Post both scored goals for the Bulldogs, as they improved its record to 6-7-2 (2-3-0 Ivy). Brown's record is now 9-6-1 on the season, and is 3-3-0 in Ivy League play.

Brown came out of the gates firing, as they immediately took control of the game. The Bears tallied four shots in the first 10 minutes of play, while the defense shut down Yale's attack and didn't allow them to take a shot on goal until the 31:44 mark. Brown answered back a minute later when a header by freshman Taylor Gorman (Freeport, ME) just missed the goal and went high.

Yale's Farina-Henry accepted a throw-in from Jon Carlos and was able to drive the ball high and to the right of senior Jarrett Leech (Manakin-Sabot, VA) who came out of the goal to take a 1-0 lead with the time at 38:08.

The Bulldogs kept the pressure up, as Henry-Farina fired another shot just a minute after his tallying his first goal. The Bears had a good look by David Walls (West Yorkshire, England) at the 42-minute mark, but Yale's Travis Chulick made the save. Junior Christopher Roland (Rochester, NY) also tallied a shot, but missed to the right.

A Brown foul in its box paved the way for Yale's second goal of the night, as Sam Post was awarded a direct kick just 1:08 into the second half. The Bears out-shot Yale 8-4 in the second stanza (and 16-7 for the game), but couldn't find the back of the net. Brown also posted a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Leech ended the game with two saves and is now 6-2-1 on the season. Chulick picked up four saves in goal, improving his record to 6-7-2. Brown junior TJ Thompson (Atkinson, NH) led the team in shots with five (two on goal), while senior Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) had three shots (two on goal).

The Bears are back in action on Friday, Nov. 14 when it takes on Dartmouth at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on the Fox Soccer Channel.
