Philadelphia, PA - The Brown men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the No. 23 University of Pennsylvania Quakers on Saturday night at Rhodes Field. Bruno's record drops to 9-5-1 (3-2 Ivy), as Penn improved its record to 10-2-3 (4-1 Ivy).
Penn's Omid Shokoufandeh tallied two goals just 14 minutes apart in the first half, the first coming on a penalty kick. Then Andrew Ferry and Loukas Tasigianis went to work as they both tallied a goal in the second stanza to increase its lead to 4-0.
Senior Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA), sophomore Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) and senior co-captain Stephen Sawyer (Coppel, TX) tallied the Bears' only shots on goal, as the squad was out shot 12-9 for the game. However, Brown did hold a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, 3-1.
Sophomore Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) received the loss for Brown in net as he tallied three saves in tonight's game and now has a 3-4-0 record. Penn's Drew Healy earned the win, and picked up two saves in the net to tally his ninth shutout of the season.
The Bears are back in action next Saturday, Nov. 8, at 4:30 p.m. against Yale.
