Piscataway, NJ - Senior Kevin Davies (Port Washington, NY) and rookie David Walls (West Yorkshire, England) both scored goals to help the Brown men's soccer squad (12-1-1, 4-0-0) to a 2-0 victory over Rutgers on Wednesday night. The Bears picked up their sixth consecutive win, as they now prepare to take on Yale on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
In the first half of the game, Davies and sophomore TJ Thompson (Atkinson, NH) posted Brown's two shots on goal, as Rutgers tallied just two shots on goal as well. But Brown's offense came alive in the second half, as Davies recorded the game's first goal in the 53rd minute of play.
Davies broke away from the stingy Rutgers defense at midfield and nailed a shot above the head of Scarlet Knight's goalkeeper, Matt Vanoekel. Then, with just 29 seconds left on the clock, Davies crossed the ball to Walls who then booted one in to make the score 2-0 and end the game.
Junior Jarrett Leech (Manakin-Sabot, VA) was in the net for the Brown, and picked up three saves increasing his record to 4-1-0 on the season. Rutgers out shot the Bears 10-8, and had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Brown will travel to New Haven on Saturday where they will take on the Yale Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m., and will then host Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 10 in its final home game of the season.
