PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by the Princeton Tigers in an Ivy League contest on Saturday night at Stevenson Field.
The Tigers (5-2-2, 1-1-0 Ivy) jumped on the board at 29:19 of the first half when Lucas Moskowitz knocked in a header off of a centering cross. Picking up assists on the goal were Ryan Rich and Matt Douglas. Princeton took its 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Princeton scored again at 70:51 when Matt Behncke scored off a rebound to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Tigers. Princeton's Benji Diggs was credited with an assist on the play as his shot was blocked by freshman Brown goalkeeper Chris Gomez (Bellflower, CA) before Behncke converted the rebound.
The Tigers notched their third goal when Mike Nugent drove home a shot at 76:13 to give Princeton a decisive 3-0 lead. Nugent's shot hit off the crossbar before rebounding straight down and landing across the goal line.
The Bears were out shot 12-10 by the Tigers on the evening. Gomez had five saves in net for Brown (3-6-1, 1-1-0 Ivy).
Brown will be back in action next Saturday, October 20, when they will play at Cornell in an Ivy League game at 7:00 p.m.
