Sept. 26, 2003
Providence, RI - The 13th ranked Brown men's soccer team dominated Sacred Heart in a 2-0 win on Friday, Sept. 26 at Stevenson Field. The Bears out-shot the Pioneers 26-2 and did not allow SHU a shot in the second half. Brown is now 4-2 on the season while Sacred Heart drops to 1-3-5. Sophomore Brian Perry (Manlius, NY) and senior Seth Quidachay-Swan (San Francisco, CA) scored Brown's two goals.
Perry broke the 0-0 deadlock with 1:56 left to play in the first half, netting his first career goal. The 6-0 forward went top shelf as he fired a bullet over Sacred Heart's goalkeeper Chris Gray from 25 yards out. Freshman Brian Joyce (Silver Spring, MD) set up the play for his first career point.
Brown sealed the victory in the second half at the 74:13 mark when Quidachay-Swan chipped in the rebound from a shot by senior Adom Crew (Columbia, MD) for his first goal of the season. Junior Marcos Romaneiro (North Brunswick, NJ) made the initial pass for his team-leading third assist of the season.
Senior Edward Thurston (Washington, DC), junior Jeff Larentowicz (West Chester, PA) and freshman Matt Britner (Halifax, Nova Scotia), led Bruno's defense. The trio did not let up as it kept the ball out of Sacred Heart's zone for nearly the entire game, allowing the Pioneers just one shot on goal.
Brown distributed the ball well as twelve players recorded shots in the victory. Romaneiro led with six shots on the night while sophomore Ibrahim Diane (Potomac, MD) followed up with five.
Brown will continue action on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at home versus Boston University.
