Newton, MA - Senior defender Rhett Bernstein (San Diego, CA) scored his second consecutive game-winning goal to help the Brown men's soccer team (4-2-1) defeat No. 13 Boston College (3-3-1), 1-0, at the Newton Campus Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first half, the Bears once again battled in the second to score in the 47th minute of play after a corner kick taken by senior midfielder Darren Howerton (Northboro, MA). Bernstein got his foot on a loose ball inside the 18-yard box and drove it into the back of the net past Eagles goalkeeper, Chris Brown. Brown recorded three saves tonight, and received the loss in net. Howerton tallied his second consecutive assist.
Boston College held a 20-9 advantage on shots, as Bruno's goalkeeper sophomore Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN) earned his first win in the net with three saves.
