Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 19 Dartmouth, 1-0, on Senior Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Matt Danilack scored the only goal of the contest in the 76th minute as the Brown men's soccer team fell to No. 19 Dartmouth, 1-0, in Saturday's regular season finale at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

Brown wrapped up the season at 8-6-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the Ivy League. Dartmouth (12-3-1, 6-0-1) secured an outright claim to the league title with the win.

Senior keeper Joey Cipicchio (Columbus, Ohio) made three saves for Brown. Christopher Palacios also recorded three stops on the other end for the Big Green.

The two teams went back and forth in the first half, swapping possession up and down the field, as the Big Green held an edge in overall shots, 10-6. Rookie Daniel Schiller (Glenview, Ill.) had one of only two shots on target in the first half, but was denied by Palacios with five minutes remaining in the stanza.

Danilack scored the lone goal of the game at 75:59 when he headed home a shot in the box following a free kick. Dawson McCartney earned the assist in the play.

Cipicchio came right back with back-to-back saves in the 81st minute to keep the Bears in the game. Nevertheless, Palacios denied a final header attempt by Gabe Welp (West Chester, Ohio) at 87:05 to seal the shutout.

Dartmouth held the lead in shots, 19-10. Senior Nico Lozada (Dallas, Texas) led the Bears with three shots.

Seniors Cipicchio, Lozada, Quinn English, James Myall and Louis Zingas were all honored before the game for their four years of dedication and commitment to the program.
