PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seniors Jose Salama (Madrid, Spain) and Josh Weiner (Armonk, N.Y.) of the Brown men's soccer team have been named 2013 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) All-Stars and were invited to play in the All-Star game held at Harvard on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
Salama started in 15 of 17 games played as a senior and proved to be one of the most reliable players on the team throughout the season. Salama ranked third on the squad with 11 points, notching a team-high five assists to go along with three goals. He also recorded the game-winning goal in the team's victory over Marist.
Weiner earned All-Ivy Honorable Mention honors following the season. He started 15 games in net for the Bears and earned seven wins as the team's primary goalkeeper, posting a 1.21 goals-against-average, and ranked first in the Ivy League with 77 total saves. He also earned three shutouts against Bryant, Marist and Cornell, highlighted by a career-high nine-save performance in a pivotal 1-0 victory against the Big Red.
The duo helped lead the Bears to an Ivy League Championship in 2011 and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament over the last four years, including consecutive trips to the Sweet Sixteen.
