Men’s Soccer Ranked 18th in NSCAA Preseason Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University men's soccer team has been ranked 18th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll. This marks the team's third preseason ranking in as many years after the Bears were selected 11th in 2011 and 24th in 2012.

Brown will look to improve upon last year's record of 13-3-3 and return to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight season. Brown has been a model of success in recent years, earning trips to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the past eight seasons, including Ivy League titles in 2005, 2007 and 2011. In 2012, Brown tied the school record for shutouts in a single season, notching 11 for the third year in a row and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Additionally, Brown has three opponents on its 2013 schedule that are ranked in the Top 25 preseason poll, including top-ranked and defending National Champion Indiana (9/20). The Bears will also play host to No. 23 Washington on Sept. 13 before visiting No. 22 Cornell on Oct. 26 in a battle between last year's only Ivy League representatives in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bears are set to face intrastate rival Bryant in the regular season opener and opening round of the Ocean State Classic on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.

For tickets, fans can purchase online, call the Brown Athletics Ticket Office at (401) 863-2773, or walk up to the Box Office located in the Pizzitola Sports Center, open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
