Providence, R.I.- No. 11 Brown University men's soccer team will host Yale at Stevenson Field this Saturday, November 3 at 7 p.m. in its final home game of the 2012 season. Brown bested Penn (1-0) last weekend for its fourth straight win to improve its record to 12-1-2, while the Bulldogs are coming off a 1-1 draw with Columbia to drop its record to 4-7-4. Brown leads the Ivy League in the standings, ahead of both Dartmouth and Cornell, who sit just a point behind the Bears.
Brown's win last weekend increased their unbeaten streak to 11 games and preserved their spot in the rankings. Leading scorer Ben Maurey (Downingtown, PA) tallied his third consecutive game-winning goal early on in the match against Penn, scoring his fourth goal of the year and 10th point. Goalkeeper Sam Kernan-Schloss (Arlington, VA) racked up eight saves and leads the League with both his low goals against average of 0.45 and save percentage of 0.863.
Yale enters the game with a 1-2-2 record in the Ivy League. Their tie against Columbia featured a sliding defensive clear by Ivy Rookie of the Week Tyler Detorie in the final minutes of the game. Scott Armbrust is leading scorer for the Bulldogs with seven points.
In last year's competition against Yale, Brown won 1-0 at Reese Stadium, but the all-time series goes to Yale 40-33-11. After hosting Yale on Saturday, the Bears will visit Dartmouth for a critical final league match-up on November 9th. The game will play a role in the conference ranking and will be televised by Fox Soccer Channel.
