In 2011: Started and played in all 20 games on defense for the Bears this season … Scored his first collegiate goal, a game-winner, in Brown’s 2-0 victory over Boston University on Sept. 23 …  Earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 12 after helping Brown to a 3-0 record en route to a 2011 Brown Soccer Classic title.  He earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors again on Nov. 7 after the Bears earned their ninth shutout of the season with a 1-0 overtime victory against Yale, and the defense did not allow Yale any shots … Named Defensive MVP of South Carolina’s Gamecock Classic and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.  

Before Brown: Markes is the other Californian in the Class of 2015 ...  Also a member of the Real So Cal Academy program, he is a defender that can play in any one of the four defensive positions ... He is from Valencia, and attended Harvard-Westlake school where he has excelled both as a student and student-athlete. A member of the Dallas Cup and San Diego Surf Cup winning teams with his academy team, he brings an outstanding pedigree into the freshman class ... He was a two-year recipient of First Team All-Mission League honors, and earned Second Team All-CIF his junior year.
