Providence, RI- The Brown men's soccer team will host the Princeton University Tigers at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening on Stevenson Field. Both teams are searching for their first Ivy League win, as the Bears enter the weekend 5-4-1 overall and the Tigers are 2-6-1.
The Brown squad is coming off a 2-1 double overtime loss to Columbia in its Ivy League opener on Oct. 1 as senior forward Sean Rosa scored the game-tying goal as the 57:04 mark. Most recently, the Bears played No. 8 St. John's to a scoreless draw, a team that narrowly defeated Princeton in double overtime, scoring with 4.2 seconds left. Senior forward TJ Popolizio leads the Brown offense with 13 points with a team-high six goals, three of which have been game winners. Rosa has four goals and one assist for nine points, and Thomas McNamara has four points on the year. Senior midfielder Taylor Gorman boasts a team-best three assists. In goal. Sam Kernan-Schloss (2-2-1) and Alex Carr (3-2-0) have split time both seeing action in five games.
Princeton is coming off a 7-3 win over Seton Hall last Tuesday night after dropping their conference opener at Dartmouth, 4-1. Leading the Princeton offense is senior Antoine Hoppenot, the 2010 Ivy League Player of the Year. He has scored three goals and added five assists for 11 points. Freshman Cameron Porter, this week's Ivy League Rookie of the Week, has seven points on three goals and one helper. Junior Matt Sanner has also scored three times and has both game-winning goals to his credit. Junior Max Gallin has started eight games in goal and has 27 combined saves on 43 shots for a 1.86 goals against average.
The Bears lead the all-time series against the Tigers 33-20-6, but Princeton won the last meeting at Roberts Stadium, 3-0.
