Markes Named Defensive MVP of Gamecock Classic; Popolizio, Rosa Earn All-Tournament Team Honors

Providence, RI- Brown University freshman defender Alex Markes was named the Gamecock Classic Defensive MVP and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team along with senior teammates TJ Popolizio and Sean Rosa

Markes played all 90 minutes in both games and help the Bears shutout South Carolina with a 2-0 victory to capture its third shutout of the year.   Markes, the only freshman to start in all six games this season, has played all 90 minutes in all six games on the back line. 
Popolizio, this week's Ivy League Player of the Week, scored three goals in two games, including two against host South Carolina.  Popolizio leads the Bears in scoring with six goals and one assist, and has scored six goals in Brown's last five games. 

Rosa, who ranks second on the team in scoring with two goals and one assist, handed out an assist in the South Carolina game on Friday night.   He has started in all six games for Brown and leads the gam in shots with 15.
