Mens Soccer Game Time vs. Bryant Changed to 3 PM
The Brown men's soccer game vs. Bryant on Tuesday, Sept. 15, has been changed to 3:00 p.m.
The Bears are coming off a successful weekend where the squad picked up its first two wins of the 2009 season to increase their record to 2-0-1 and earn an adidas-Brown Soccer Classic Championship. Sophomore Austin Mandel's (Tarzana, CA) penalty kick at the 32:23 mark gave Bruno a 1-0 win over Southern Methodist University on Friday evening, as both Mandel and sophomore Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) scored in a 2-0 victory over Adelphi on Sunday.
Brown had four players named to the All-Tournament Team: Junior Paul Grandstrand (Orono, MN), senior Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA), Mandel, and junior captain David Walls (Leeds, England). Sophomore Evan Coleman (Amherst, MA) was named the Defensive MVP of the tournament and Rosa was selected as the Offensive MVP.
Mandel leads the team in scoring with two goals in Brown's three games and has four points. Following Mandel is Rosa with one goal and one assist (3 pts) and junior forward Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) with one goal (2 pts). Sophomore Mike Manella (Toluca Lake, CA) and rookie Dylan Remick (Inverness, IL) each have added an assist and have one point apiece.
Bryant is coming off a 1-0 win against Holy Cross and a 3-0 victory against Army as the Bulldogs feature a 2-3-0 record. Bryant dropped its first three games of the 2009 season to Hartford (1-0), Boston College (2-0) and Stony Brook (3-0).
Four players have recorded one goal on the season: Matt Brown, junior Tom Nelan, senior Neil Black and senior Andre Barros. Freshman Matt Miscione has played 439.58 minutes in net, and has allowed six goals for a 1.23 goals against average. He has made 34 saves this season and has a 2-3-0 record.
After playing the Bulldogs, Brown will challenge the University of Rhode Island in Kingston on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7:00 p.m.
