Brown University Names Patrick Laughlin Head Mens Soccer Coach
Providence, RI- After conducting a national search of the most qualified candidates from around the country, Brown University found its new mens soccer coach already on staff. Pat Laughlin, former Brown assistant coach, has been named the Friends of Brown Mens Soccer Head Coaching Chair and becomes just the sixth coach in Browns 84-year soccer history announced Director of Athletics Michael Goldberger.

Revs Ship Larentowicz to Rapids in 4-Player Swap
By: Kyle McCarthy, Boston Herald The Revolution have sent the rights to midfielder Jeff Larentowicz to Colorado in exchange for former U.S. international defender Cory Gibbs as part of a four-player deal. Larentowicz and midfielder Wells Thompson will head to the Rapids, with the Revs acquiring Gibbs, goalkeeper Preston Burpo, allocation money and a third-round draft pick in 2011, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its fall list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Tar Heels Defeat Bears, 2-0, in Second Round of NCAA Tournament
Chapel Hill, N.C.- Sophomores Billy Schuler and Alex Dixon both scored goals during the second round of the NCAA Division I Mens Soccer Tournament to lift the Tar Heels to a 2-0 victory over the Brown University Bears at Fetzer Field. The Bears ended the 2009 season with an 11-3-5 overall record, as UNC improved to 14-2-3.

Sean Rosa's Goal Gives Brown Thrilling 1-0 Win in Double Overtime
Sophomore Sean Rosa entered Thursday night's NCAA Tournament game with four goals on the season, but none was bigger than the one he tallied against Stony Brook, as Rosa scored at the 103:02 mark to give Brown a thrilling 1-0 win in double overtime. The win gives the Bears their first NCAA victory since 2007, and moves them to the second round, where they will face the University of North Carolina.

A Second Team All-District honoree, Walls is making his first appearance on the team as a defender. The No. 18 Brown mens soccer team (7-1-5) battled St. Johns University to a 1-1 double overtime tie on Tuesday night in Queens, NY. Senior midfielder Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA) scored Browns lone goal in the 35th minute to give Bruno a 1-0 edge, but the Red Storm scored in the 60th minute on a penalty kick to tie the game.

The Brown mens soccer team (2-0-1) earned a 2-0 win over Adelphi University (1-1-2) to claim the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic Championship going 2-0 this weekend, which included a victory over SMU on Friday night. Browns Sean Rosa (Montreal, Quebec) was named the tournaments Offensive MVP, as sophomore Evan Coleman (Arlington, VA) was selected as the tournaments Defensive MVP. Brown Soccer to Host Adidas-Brown Soccer Classic This Weekend
The Brown mens soccer team (0-0-1) is hosting the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic presented by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, beginning on Friday, Sept. 5 and ending on Sunday, Sept. 7. Joining Brown on Stevenson Field will be Adelphi University (1-0-1), Southern Methodist University (1-1-0) and Yale (0-0-1). Tickets are $5 for adults and FREE for all Brown students with a valid student ID and children under the age of 12.

Providence, RI- A goal by junior forward Jon Okafor (Verona, NJ) in the 88th minute of play evened the score to 1-1 during the home opener of the Brown mens soccer team this afternoon. Brown (0-0-1) and Lehigh (1-1-1) battled through two overtimes, but neither team could find the back of the net as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Former Mens Soccer Player, Edward Thurston, Named to USASA National Select Team
USASA Mens National Select Team Coach Aleks Mihailovic has recently named six members of the Aegean Hawks Football Club to the roster for the National Select Teams upcoming exhibitions against the Republic of Irelands Amateur National Select Team in San Francisco. Former Brown soccer defender Edward Thurston 04 (Washington, D.C.) was one of 50 finalists for a roster of 18 players, six of which play together on the Aegean Hawks.
