    Providence, RI- After conducting a national search of the most qualified candidates from around the country, Brown University found its new men’s soccer coach already on staff. Pat Laughlin, former Brown assistant coach, has been named the Friends of Brown Men’s Soccer Head Coaching Chair and becomes just the sixth coach in Brown’s 84-year soccer history announced Director of Athletics Michael Goldberger.

Larentowicz and midfielder Wells Thompson will head to the Rapids, with the Revs acquiring Gibbs, goalkeeper Preston Burpo, allocation money and a third-round draft pick in 2011, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

  • Tar Heels Defeat Bears, 2-0, in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

    Chapel Hill, N.C.- Sophomores Billy Schuler and Alex Dixon both scored goals during the second round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament to lift the Tar Heels to a 2-0 victory over the Brown University Bears at Fetzer Field. The Bears ended the 2009 season with an 11-3-5 overall record, as UNC improved to 14-2-3.

    Sophomore Sean Rosa entered Thursday night's NCAA Tournament game with four goals on the season, but none was bigger than the one he tallied against Stony Brook, as Rosa scored at the 103:02 mark to give Brown a thrilling 1-0 win in double overtime. The win gives the Bears their first NCAA victory since 2007, and moves them to the second round, where they will face the University of North Carolina.

Senior midfielder Nick Elenz-Martin (Encinitas, CA) scored Brown’s lone goal in the 35th minute to give Bruno a 1-0 edge, but the Red Storm scored in the 60th minute on a penalty kick to tie the game.
