Jon Thompson Named Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

Providence, Rhode Island - Brown men's lacrosse coach Scott Nelson has announced that Jon Thompson '03 has returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the Bears.

"We are extremely excited to have Jon return to Brown," said nelson. "He is a great leader and will be a fine teacher for our players. Jon was an outstanding player with an incredible work ethic. He is a great role model for our team."

Thompson was a four-year attackman for the Bears, captaining the team as a senior in 2003. His 137 career points (94 goals, 43 assists) rank 15th in the Brown record book, while his 94 career goals are ninth in the Brown record book.

He was a 2003 USILA honorable mention All-American, and an Academic All-American by the USILA. A two-time All-Ivy and All-New England selection, Thompson played in the Annual STX/USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game. He was also Brown's offensive MVP in 2003.

A native of Freeport, Maine, Thompson worked as a part-time assistant coach for the Bears in 2004, assisting with Brown's offense, specifically with the attack, and assisted with game substitutions.
