#19 Bears Cruise To 12-3 Ivy Victory Over Harvard

Cambridge, Mass. - The 19th-ranked Brown men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 10-1 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 12-3 Ivy League victory over Harvard Tuesday night at Jordan Field. The win gives the Bears a 4-3 overall record, 1-1 in the Ivy League, while Harvard drops to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in Ivy play.

Brown led from start to finish, holding the Crimson scoreless for 38:45 to open the game. The Bears held a 3-0 lead after one quarter on goals by senior Chris Mucciolo, senior George Bassett and junior Kyle Wailes. The second quarter was more of the same as senior Will McGettigan, sophomore Alex Buckley and senior Britton Derkac scored goals to give Brown a 6-0 lead at the half.

Sophomore David Madeira scored just 1:02 into the third quarter to lift the Bears to a 7-0 lead. Harvard finally got on the scoreboard with 6:11 left in the quarter on a goal by Jake Samuelson.

Brown came right back on goals by Derkac, Buckley and Madeira to grab its biggest lead, 10-1, with 11:22 remaining in the game.

Madeira and Derkac each finished the game with three goals for the Bears, while Buckley added two goals. Wailes, the Ivy League assists leader, had a goal and four assists.

Bears' goalie Nick Gentilesco was strong in net, making 13 saves as Harvard peppered the Brown net with 31 shots. Evan O'Donnell made 10 saves for the Crimson.

Brown will return to Ivy League action on Saturday, April 16, at home against Penn. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson Field.
