Bears Downed By #18 Notre Dame, 11-3

Providence, RI - Notre Dame's Will Yeatman, a 6-6, 260 attackman who also starts at tight end on the Fighting Irish football team, scored three goals to lead the #18 Irish men's lacrosse team to an 11-3 win over Brown before a crowd of 2,170 at Stevenson Field. The loss drops Brown to 5-3 overall, while Notre Dame extended its record to 5-3 overall.
Notre Dame scored early, but Brown's Alex Buckley tied the game 1-1, on an unassisted goal with 10:41 left in the first quarter. The Irish scored the game's next five goals, including four in the first quarter and one more in the second quarter, to pull ahead by a 6-1 margin with 3:51 left in the second quarter.
Brown sophomore Jack Walsh scored a man up goal on a Buckley assist with 2:00 left in the second quarter, but Notre Dame's Ryan Hoff scored with 8 seconds left in the half to give the Fighting Irish a 7-2 lead at intermission.
The Bears' lone goal of the second half was scored by senior Will Davis, midway through the third quarter.
Brown sophomore goalie Jordan Burke, who had been brilliant all season, allowed nine goals in 32:09, making five saves. Senior Chandler Clarke played 27:51 in a relief role, making six saves, while allowing two goals. Notre Dame goalie Joey Kemp went the distance and registered 11 saves, including five in the fourth quarter.
Notre Dame out-shot the Bears by a 39-35 margin, and captured 14 of 18-face-offs.
The Bears will return to Ivy League action next Saturday, April 7, hosting Yale. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Stevenson Field.
