Hempstead, New York - Despite four goals by Bears' sophomore Thomas Muldoon, Brown dropped a 7-6 decision to Hofstra at James Shuart Stadium. The loss was Brown's (1-1) first of the year, while Hofstra (1-1) gained its first win of the young season.
Hofstra jumped out to a 2-0 first quarter lead, but the Bears roared back to grab a 3-2 lead on a goal by Zach Caldwell and two by sophomore Thomas Muldoon, his second with 9:07 left in the half to give Brown the lead. The Pride came back to tie the game, 3-3, but Muldoon answered with his third goal with 59 seconds remaining to give Brown a 4-3 lead at the half.
The Pride pulled ahead, 5-4, with two third quarter goals before the Bears tied the game, 5-5, on freshman Andrew Feinberg's goal with 3:42 left in the third quarter.
Michael Unterstein goalearly in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner, while Kevin Ford added a goal with 5:09 left to play to give the Pride a 7-5 advantage.
Muldoon netted his fourth goal of the game with five seconds remaining to account for the final score.
Brown was out-shot by a 37-19 margin, but Bears' junior goalie Jordan Burke was outstanding in goal with 13 saves. Danny Orlando made four saves in goal for the Pride.
Brown heads to Colorado next week for games against Denver on Saturday, March 8, and Air Force on Sunday, March 9.
