Providence, RI - Senior All-American Jon Thompson scored nine seconds into the third overtime period to lift Brown to a season opening 7-6 victory over Vermont on Warner Roof.

Sophomore Kirk Teatom won the face-off in the third overtime and carried the ball to the top of the box where he passed to Thompson for the game-winning goal.

Brown built a 4-1 first quarter advantage on goals by sophomore Chazz Woodson, junior Chris Mucciolo, junior John Urquhart and Thompson.

The Catamounts scored the last two goals in the second quarter and the first two goals of the fourth quarter to grab a 5-4 lead on RJ Harrison's goal at the 3:15 mark. The two teams exchanged goals and Brown's Brian Miller sent the game into overtime with a goal at the 8:15 mark.

Thompson led the Bears with three goals and one assist, while Woodson scored a goal and one assist.

Harrison was the top scorer for Vermont with two goals.

The Bears will be back in action next Saturday, March 8 at home against Fairfield.
