Charlie carries several titles now.  This summer, Charlie achieved 2nd Lieutenant status with the United States Marine Corps after successfully completing the 10-week course at Quantico. For our program, captain is what we call him.  In Charlie you can find the unique balance of warrior, artful negotiator, astute intelligence, and perceptive and loyal friend.  Such traits are ideal for the game of lacrosse, especially at the face-off X.  He has battled for Brown for 3 years in the middle of the field, earning the respect of everyone in the program.  Charlie found the goal several times in 2009, including a momentum changer in the victory over Harvard...2009:  Captured 11 of 21 face-offs against Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Tournament...Scored two goals and one assist for the Bears...Picked-up 21 ground balls...Scored goals against Vermont and Harvard...2008: Played in eight games for the Bears...Registered an assist vs. Cornell...Picked-up 13 ground balls...Captured 21 of 54 face-offs for Brown...Won 3 of 5 face-offs vs. Dartmouth...2007: Earned a starting role in two of 13 games played...Picked-up 21 ground balls, including four against Providence when he captured 7 of 9 face-offs....Won 50 of 119 face-offs for the season...Secondary School Background: A graduate of the Belmont Hill School where he lettered in lacrosse (4), football (4) and hockey (2)...All New England selection and team MVP as a senior...Two-year All-League selection...2003 Independent School League Lacrosse Champions...Three-time public speaking champion and school award winner...Head of the Peer leader program...Personal: The son of Charles Kenney and Anne Detmer of Jamaica Plain...Has a sister, Elizabeth...Interested in community service, and a big fan of all types of music...Development Studies concentrator.
