Providence, R.I. - Coach Mike Daly's Brown men's lacrosse team has been ranked 18th nationally in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Top 25 rankings. The 2017 Bears finished 10-6 overall and were a goal away from earning an NCAA Tournament berth a year ago, falling in the Ivy League Tournament Championship game by a one goal margin.
While the Bears will surely miss Dylan Molloy '17, the 2016 Tewaaraton Award winner and Brown's all-time leading scorer, coach Daley returns five of his top six scorers from a year ago and expects the attackman trio of Luke McCaleb '20 (27 goals), Jack Kniffin '20 (22 goals) and Jackson Newsome '19 (19 goals) to keep pace after a stellar 2017 season.
With middies Stephen Hudak '18 (34 goals), an All New England and All-Ivy selection, and Michael Panepinto '19 (25 goals) having breakout seasons, the up-tempo Bears will look to improve on its 14.25 goals per game average, which ranked fourth in the nation.
Brown may have the top face-off man in the nation with the return All-Ivy Ted Ottens '18, who captured 270-of-452 face-offs (.597) and scored seven goals off the face-off. JJ Ntshaykolo '18, an All-Ivy selection, Max Gustafson '18, Alex Santangelo '19 and LSM Jake Miller '18 return in the defensive half of the field, along with goalie Phil Goss '20, who led the nation in saves.
