Providence, R.I. – Brown returns to action at Stevenson Field on Wednesday, March 5 with a matinee match-up against Hartford, starting at 4:00 pm. The Bears (1-1) are looking to rebound from a loss to UMass, while the Hawks (2-1) are coming off a win over Manhattan. The Hawks: Hartford has posted wins over Richmond (19-11) and Manhattan (12-7), while losing to Bryant (7-5).
The Series Record: Brown and Hartford have met 10 times, dating back to 2002, with the Bears holding an 8-2 series advantage. Brown captured the first seven meetings, while Hartford earned wins in 2011 (8-6) and 2012 (20-6). The Bears came away with a 14-4 decision in 2013 behind San Hurster's '14 five goals.
Attack Reshuffle: With injuries to last year's top scorer Henry Blynn '16 and its fourth leading scorer, Nick Piroli '15, head coach Lars Tiffany has reshuffled his lineup at attack. Senior captain Sam Hurster had a goal and three assists vs. Quinnipiac after scoring 22 goals last season. Sophomore Kylor Bellistri (6 goals in 2013) had two goals and two assists in the season opener vs. Quinnipiac and a goal vs. UMass, while freshman Dylan Molloy stepped up with four goals vs. Quinnipiac. Sophomore Bailey Tills also contributed with two goals and an assist in the Quinnipiac game.
From The Midfield: Sophomore Brendan Caputo (Westbury, NY) and junior Tim Jacob (Palo Alto, CA) stepped up in the midfield against Quinnipiac with Jacob netting three goals, and Caputo scoring a goal, while handing out three assists.
Molloy Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week: Freshman attackman Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week earlier this season after finding the net four times in his collegiate debut as the Bears defeated Quinnipiac, 13-6, in their season opener. Molloy netted Brown's first goal of the season, and then scored three of his four goals in the second half as the Bears took control of the game.
Kelly Posts 18 Saves vs. Quinnipiac: Sophomore goalie Jack Kelly (West Islip, NY) registered 18 saves in Brown's season opening win over Quinnipiac. He started nine games for the Bears a year ago and is an athletic keeper, who posted a 9.30 goals against average and a 7-4 record.
Defensive Unit: Senior captain Phil Pierce (Greenwich, CT) is a two-year starter at close defense, who will anchor a young defensive unit that will feature junior Will Swindell (Greenwich, CT), an outstanding man down defender, who had an outstanding fall, freshman long stick middy Larkin Kemp (Greenwich, CT) and freshman close defenseman Alec Tulett (Toronto, Ontario, Canada). A two-year starter, Pierce ranked 11th in the nation in caused turnovers as a sophomore and picked up 25 ground balls a year ago.
Did you Know?: Brown is competing in its 64th season of intercollegiate lacrosse…Brown's February 22nd game vs. Quinnipiac was the second earliest start date ever for Brown lacrosse. The Bears opened the 2009 season at Lehigh on February 21st.

Head Coach Lars Tiffany: Lars Tiffany '90, a two-time Brown lacrosse captain, returned to his alma mater as head men's lacrosse coach in the summer of 2006, and has returned the program to national prominence with Ivy League titles in 2008 and 2010, and an NCAA Championship berth in 2009. Tiffany was named the New England Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009 while leading his team to the number one ranking in New England each year. Tiffany occupies the Rothman Head Coaching Chair for Men's Lacrosse, an endowed position.
