Providence, R.I. - Brown attackman Henry Blynn '16 (Villanova, PA) and goalie Jack Kelly '16 (West Islip, NY) have been named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Preseason Team.
Blynn, a first team All-NEILA Preseason selection, burst onto the scene a year ago by leading the Bears in scoring with 27 goals and eight assists (35 points) in his rookie season. A two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week, Blynn scored five goals in back-to-back games against High Point and North Carolina and was named the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse National Rookie of the Week.
Kelly, who was named a second team All-NEILA Preseason pick, emerged as Brown's starting goalie a year ago, starting nine games in goal for the Bears. He made a season high 19 saves in Brown's overtime win over Dartmouth, including five in overtime. Kelly also made 15 saves in the Bears' win over Harvard and was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. His 9.30 goals against average ranked 4th in the Ivy League.
The Bears, who were picked fifth in the NEILA Preseason Poll, open their 2014 season on Saturday, February 22 at Quinnipiac. Face-off is 12 noon.
