On the lacrosse field, George plays with a grace and slickness that can freeze a defense and then he exploits the newfound crack. George's evolution into a fast, energizing and strong midfielder has been a treat to experience and watch after playing attack much of his lacrosse life. He has brought the craftiness of an X attackman to the wing, to the crease and to just about everywhere else on the field. George is one of those players who makes his teammates better, always looking out for them and working harmoniously within an offensive scheme. The love of his teammates and for playing the game is clearly evident with George as he comes to each practice and game with a spirit and optimism. In 2013, George's last as a college lacrosse player, he will play as big a role as he has ever been asked to play as he will serve as the most seasoned veteran, the old man of the offensive unit. We could not think of a better man to take on this responsibility of leading with both his actions and his words of confidence to the younger men…2012: Had a break-out year for the Bears, scoring eight goals and handing out nine assists, third among returning players…Registered three points vs. St. Joseph’s with two goals and an assist…Dished out two assists in Brown’s win over Penn…Scored goals vs. Quinnipiac, Harvard, Bryant Vermont, Yale and Princeton...2011: Started eight of 14 games played…Registered 11 points on the season (6 goals, 5 assists)…Handed out three assists against Bryant…Netted two goals against UMass, and one each against Quinnipiac, Vermont, Cornell and Dartmouth…Picked up 10 ground balls, including a season high three against Hartford…2010: Played in 11 games for the Bears…Had three goals for the season, including two against St. Joseph’s and one against Hofstra…Picked-up three ground balls…Secondary School Background: A graduate of the Hotchkiss School where he lettered in lacrosse and ice hockey… Lacrosse team captain… All-Western New England and All-Founders League… Named a New England All-Star… Helped lead his team to three-straight Founders League Championships and led his team in points his junior season… Named the team’s Most Valuable Player and team’s Most Improved Player… Also played on a club squash team… Senior Class President and member of the Disciplinary Committee… Recipient of the Centennial Prize… Personal: The son of Robert and Dee Dee Sherman… Has younger siblings, Audrey and Wiley… Enjoys hockey, tennis, and skiing… Commerce, Organizations and Entrepreneurship concentrator.
