Providence, RI - Brown completed a sweep of the Ivy League Weekly Men's Lacrosse Awards following its 10-9 win over third-ranked Cornell, with sophomore attackman Sam Hurster (St. Louis, MO) being named the Ivy League Player of the Week and freshman attackman Nick Piroli (Black River, NY) being selected the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Hurster provided the heroics at the end of the game, scoring the game-winning goal with four seconds remaining to lift the Bears to the upset win over the Big Red and keep Brown's Ivy Playoff hopes alive.
Hurster finished the game with three goals and an assist against the Big Red. He also scored three goals in Brown's midweek win over Providence, and has registered a hat-trick in five consecutive games. Hurster leads the Brown team with 27 goals for the season.
Piroli also turned in a strong performance in the Bears' win over Cornell with two goals on three shots. He also added a goal against Providence to complete a three-goal week. Piroli is Brown's second leading goal scorer with 21 goals for the season.
The Bears will look to gain an Ivy League Playoff berth this weekend, hosting Dartmouth at Stevenson Field, beginning at 3:00 p.m. A Brown win against the Big Green and a Harvard loss at Yale would give the Bears the final Ivy League Playoff sport.
