The time is now for Roger. An outsider can peer into our program and see that there is a talented, athletic man starting at the long-stick midfield position for Brown. Roger has been able to make an impact for our program through both aggressive play as he pressures the ball carriers and with his electrifying burst up-field with the ball himself as he generates offense. He has been adorned with wonderful accolades and honors. But this program demands more from him in 2012, and Roger is preparing himself to answer this bell. He is working harder than ever before with his physical preparation so he has an answer to the question: can he take more runs and stay on the field longer this spring? Can he earn a stop on defense, and then stay and play some offense for us? Roger has spent most of his playing days in the middle of the field. But we will continue to be assigned several of the nation's toughest attackmen. Roger craves such challenges…2011: Dynamic defenseman who started 4 of 14 games played…Scored a goal against St. Joseph’s and had assists vs. UMass, Duke and Vermont…His 40 ground balls led the Brwon team…Caused four turnovers against UMass…2010: Named the New England Rookie of the Year…Spark plug for the Bears as a long stick middy and on defense…Scored his first career goal in Brown's Ivy league Playoff game against Cornell, finding the back of the net on an end-to-end clearing run…Brown's team leader with 39 ground balls, and handed out seven assists, sixth best on the Brown team…Secondary School Background: A graduate of St. Albans School where he lettered in lacrosse, football, hockey, and soccer… Lacrosse team captain… Named an Under Armour All-American… Holds the St. Albans record for career ground balls (576) and ground balls in a single season (233)… Two-time All-Met selection and All-District selection… Also named All-IAC for two years and twice named to the Under Armour Underclassman Team… Helped lead his team to an IAC Co-Championship… Served as class president for three years and as the head prefect his senior year… Personal: The son of Roger Ferguson and Annette Nazareth, a graduate of Brown… American Studies concentrator.
