Brown Overpowers St. Joseph’s, 11-4
Providence, Rhode Island – Senior attackman Andrew Feinberg scored four goals, while junior Rob Schlesinger and sophomore Alex Jones added two goals each to lead Brown to an 11-4 non-league win over St. Joseph's at Meister-Kavan Field. The win lifts the Bears to 2-2 overall, while St. Joseph's falls to 0-5 on the season.
Schlesinger scored the opening two goals of the game, and Feinberg the netted two more to lift the Bears to a 4-0 lead after one quarter. Jones and Feinberg scored again in the second quarter to help the Bears build a 6-0 lead at intermission.
St. Joseph's finally got onto the scoreboard with 7:31 left in the third quarter on a goal by Scott Cullinan. Jones and Feinberg again scored goals for the Bears to close out the quarter and lift the Bears to an 8-1 advantage after three quarters.
Bears' senior goalie Matt Chriss was taken out of the contest following Ferguson's goal after allowing just one goal and making three saves.
With Brown making substitutions at all positions, St. Joseph's scored three times in the game's final 4:48, with Kyle Mahoney scoring twice for the Hawks, and Kyle Williams netting an unassisted goal to account for the final score.
Feinberg, who also had an assist, now had 112 goals for the Bears, seventh best in Brown lacrosse history. His 144 career points are 14th in the Brown record book.
Brown senior Seth Ratner had a strong day in the face-off x, winning 9 of 11 face-offs for the Bears.
The Bears return to action next Saturday, March 19th, hosting Harvard to open its Ivy League season. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at Meister-Kavan Field.
