The defense, already strong with a significant number of returnees, is bolstered by the addition of this freshman. Phil has good foot speed and stickwork, and he made an impact this fall. Despite a nagging foot injury, he played well in the scrimmages at Stony Brook. So how does he move into a playing time role this Spring? While it will not be easy, Phil will be rewarded with some time in order to speed his development if he learns the defensive schemes quickly and competes with more of an edge.
