The strength of a team relies heavily upon the sport-specific intelligence of the men who comprise it.  Sam make us a better program with his intuitive play and decisiveness on the field, already demonstrating and proving this his freshman year.  He was thrown into a starting role late in the 2010 season due to an injury to captain Jake Westermann, and Sam plugged the hole effectively at the defensive end.  His poise and play impressed all of us and helped Brown win several key Ivy League games at the end of the year.  Sam’s skill with his stick is outstanding, raising the level of our clearing and transition game.   Sam will again be found on close defense in 2011, but he is also capable to play up in the middle of the field…2010: Earned four starts whiel playing in 13 games…Picked up 17 ground balls, including five against St. Joseph’s and four in Brown’s win over Cornell…Secondary School Background: A graduate of the McDonogh School where he lettered in lacrosse, and also competed in basketball and football… Lacrosse Team Captain… Named All-County and All-MIAA… Also named a MSLCA All-Star and Digital Sports All-Metro… Second Team All-State… Was on the high school Tewaarton watch list and named a Baltimore Sun Player to Watch… Also selected to play in the Under Armour Underclassman games for two years… Played club lacrosse for the Maryland Lacrosse Club… Member of the honor roll… Personal: The son of Darren and Heather Ford… Has an older brother, Robby and a younger brother, Ryan… Enjoys playing the fife, watching sports, and reading… Undecided on his concentration.
