Providence, Rhode Island - Brown seniors Thomas Muldoon (Oakton, VA), Reade Seligmann (Essex Falls, NJ) and Jake Westermann (Setauket, NY) have been named Scholar All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. All three contributed to the success of the Brown team, who captured its second Ivy League Championship in the last three years.
The USILA Scholar All-America Program recognizes student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III. The Scholar All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
Muldoon, the ninth leading scorer in Brown lacrosse history with 151 career points (116 goals, 35 assists), is a three-time first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection. One Brown's team captains, Muldoon also excels in the classroom and is a finalist for the prestigious Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for notable achievements in four areas of excellence: Classroom, Character, Community, and Competition.
A first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection in 2010, Seligmann is Brown's third leading scorer with 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists). Brown's team leader with 22 assists, his 1.56 assists per game ranked third in the Ivy League and 21st nationally. A team captain in 2010, he handed out four assists in Brown's win over Penn, and netted a season high three goals, with four assists, against Hofstra.
Westermann was a mainstay of the Brown defense and a team leader and one of the captains of Brown's Ivy Championship team. He played the last third of the season with a hand injury and started all 10 games he was able to play. He picked-up nine ground balls and caused four turnovers for the season.
