Errol Wilson Promoted To Top Assistant and Offensive Coordinator For Brown Lacrosse
Providence, RI - After three seasons as an assistant coach with
the Brown lacrosse team, Errol Wilson has been promoted to top
assistant coach and offensive coordinator on the Bears' staff in an
announcement made by head coach Lars Tiffany.
"The excitement I have for Errol's move to the top assistant
position is more for Brown Lacrosse than it is for Errol himself,"
said Tiffany. "While Errol has certainly earned this move,
his advancement is one that is more based on what our lacrosse
program needs: an intelligent, driven, caring man as the
first assistant. Jon Thompson and David Evans have set the
bar high for this position. Errol is up to the challenge for
raising it even higher. Errol will work with the offense and
continue the development of our goalies."
The Brown lacrosse team has prospered and grown in Wilson's three
years on the staff, with the Bears winning the Ivy League title in
2008, and gaining an NCAA Playoff berth in 2009. As goalie
coach, Wilson helped develop Jordan Burke into the top goalie in
the nation, with Burke being named the USILA Goalie of the Year,
twice the Ivy League Player of the Year, a first team All-American
and twice the New England Player of the Year.
In addition to his work with the Brown goalkeepers, Wilson assisted
in the clearing game, managed game day personnel and substitutions,
and did extensive recruiting for the Bears.
Wilson came to Brown from Stony Brook, where he was a goalie for
Brown coach Lars Tiffany. graduating in 2006 with a degree in
Economics. A four-year goalie for the Seawolves, Wilson
earned the team's Most Improved Player Award. He recorded a
career high 13 saves in a win over Vermont and 12 saves against
Hartford in 2003.
A native of Freeport, New York, who graduated from Freeport
High School, Wilson now resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
