Ihnacak Named USCHO National Offensive Player of the Week
Dec. 1, 2004
Brown University sophomore Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, ONT) was named USCHO National Offensive Player of the Week (11/30), after helping Brown to a pair of road wins over Clarkson (4-2) and St. Lawrence (4-1).
The 2004 ECAC and Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Ihnacak was recognized as the ECACHL Player of the Week earlier this week. The Bears' leading scorer with 11 points (7g,4a), Ihnacak notched five of his goals and two of his assists over the last four games, including four goals and one assist in Brown's weekend sweep. Against Clarkson, Ihnacak scored Brown's first two goals, including the game-tying goal, and tallied an assist on the game-winning goal. The next night at St. Lawrence, Ihnacak put the game out of reach with the final two goals of the contest. The win at Clarkson was just Brown's fourth-ever against the Golden Knights on the road, and the first since 2002. Ihnacak currently ranks fourth in the nation with .875 goals per game.
In addition, freshman goalie Adam D'Alba (Glencoe, IL) was a runner-up for the USCHO National Defensive Player of the Week, for his part in leading the Bears to the weekend sweep of Clarkson and St. Lawrence.
After starting the season with a 1-4-1 record, the Bears are now 4-4-1, winning their past three games, all on the road. Brown will look to continue its winning streak this weekend when it returns to Meehan to host RPI and Union in a pair of ECACHL games before a three-week break for exams.
