Brown University sophomore Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, ONT) was named ECACHL Player of the Week (11/29), while freshman Adam D'Alba (Glencoe, IL) was named Goalie of the Week (11/29), after helping Brown to a pair of road wins over Clarkson (4-2) and St. Lawrence (4-1).
The 2004 ECAC and Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Ihnacak was recognized as the Player of the Week for the first time in his career. The Bears' leading scorer with 11 points (7g,4a), Ihnacak notched five of his goals and two of his assists over the last four games, including four goals and one assist in Brown's weekend sweep. Against Clarkson, Ihnacak scored Brown's first two goals, including the game-tying goal, and tallied an assist on the game-winning goal. The next night at St. Lawrence, Ihnacak put the game out of reach with the final two goals of the contest. The win at Clarkson was just Brown's fourth-ever against the Golden Knights on the road, and the first since 2002. Ihnacak currently ranks fourth in the nation with .875 goals per game.
D'Alba has helped the Bears even their record at 4-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the ECACHL with three straight wins, all on the road. After picking up a 2-1 victory over #7 Minnesota-Duluth with 44 saves in his first career start, D'Alba continued his strong play in net for the Bears with his first back-to-back conference starts of his career. Over the weekend, he made 64 saves on 67 shots, including 42 of 43 in the win at St. Lawrence. After allowing a power-play goal early in the game against the Saints, D'Alba shut the door, stopping all 28 shots he faced in the final two periods, including 16 in the third period alone. Late in the third period, he made four stops on a Saints' power-play to help Brown hold onto its lead. He currently has a 1.29 GAA, second in the ECACHL and the nation, and a .965 save percentage, first in the nation. In three complete games, plus 5:00, D'Alba has made 109 saves, while earning a 3-0-0 record.
After starting the season with a 1-4-1 record, the Bears are now 4-4-1, winning their past three games, all on the road. Brown will look to continue its winning streak this weekend when it returns to Meehan to host RPI and Union in a pair of ECACHL games before a three-week break for exams.
