For the second week in a row, Brown University junior Yann Danis (Lafontaine, QUE) was honored as the ECAC Goaltender of the Week (11/10) after picking up back-to-back wins over Vermont and Dartmouth.
Danis led the Bears to his second consecutive and fifth career shutout, breaking the Brown career shutout record on Friday against Vermont. He stopped all 29 shots as the Bears cruised to a 5-0 win over the Catamounts and opened their season with back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 1897-1898, their first season of collegiate ice hockey.
On Saturday, Danis stopped 35 of 37 shots against Dartmouth, including 17 in the first period, to earn Second Star honors, and help Brown to a 4-2 victory.
A pre-season All-ECAC selection and an All-America candidate, Danis currently leads the ECAC and the nation with a 0.67 goals against average and a .979 save percentage.
Brown is off to its first 3-0 start since 1994-1995 when the Bears won their first five games. The Bears, who were picked to finish fourth in the ECAC this season, their highest-ever pre-season ranking, will hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to the North Country for a pair of games at Clarkson (Friday) and at St. Lawrence (Saturday).
