The Brown men's ice hockey team announced the captain and two assistant captains for the upcoming 2003-2004 season. Scott Ford (Fort St. John, BC) '04, who served as an Assistant Captain this past season, will fill the shoes left by graduating senior Tye Korbl (Barnstable, MA) as the captain of the 2003-2004 team. Joining Ford to lead the team will be Assistant Captains Les Haggett (Norwood, NY) '05 and Brent Robinson (Pointe Claire, QUE) '04.

Ford was fifth-leading scorer on the team this year with 6-11-17 totals, second among all defensemen and 12th in ECAC for defensemen scoring. A member of Brown's top power-play unit, Ford played in 33 of 35 games, missing both due to injuries, and scored five power-play goals, while finishing with 13 power-play points. The son of Gary and Cheryl Ford, he now has career totals of nine goals and 23 assists (32 points) in 87 games, missing all seven games due to injuries.

Linemates on Brown's top line this season, Robinson and Haggett finished the year as the Bears' leading and second-leading scorer, respectively. With 38 points (15g, 23a), 10th in the ECAC, Robinson was Brown's first 30-point scorer since the 1998 season, and the first Brown player to score at least 15 goals since the same year. Robinson was Brown's leading scorer for the second year in a row, and led the Bears in nearly every scoring category, including goals (15), assists (23), power-play goals (7), power-play points (17, sixth in the ECAC) and game-winning goals (3). A one-time ECAC Player of the Week, and Honorable Mention IHCCA Player of the Month (January), Robinson was also a Second Team All-Ivy selection. The son of Frank and Cheryl Robinson, he enters his senior season with 68 career points, on 25 goals and 43 assists.

Haggett was Brown's second-leading scorer with 13-20-33 numbers, including six power-play goals. A member of Brown's first power-play unit, Haggett was the center for the Bears' top line this past season, while finishing with 16 power-play points, second on the team and ninth in the ECAC. A four-time selection to the ECAC Honor Roll this season, Haggett was last year's recipient of Brown's Kevin R. Pope Memorial Trophy, while earning ECAC Rookie of the Week honors once. The son of Les and Elaine Haggett, he enters his junior season with 46 career points, on 19 goals and 27 assists in 62 games.

Brown finished the year with a 16-14-5 record, and posted a winning season for the first time since 1995 when Bruno finished with a 15-12-5 ledger. 21 letterwinners return to next year's squad, Brown's 79th season of collegiate ice hockey.
