PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown University senior defenseman Scott Ford (Fort St. John, BC) has signed an NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks, joining teammates Brent Robinson and Yann Danis among members of the Class of 2004 who have signed professional contracts.
The 6-3, 225 pound Ford has been an anchor on the Brown blueline since his freshman season, has played in 118 games for the Bears, including all 31 this season. He has consistently been among the top defenseman in scoring for the Bears, posting 15 points (6g, 9a) this season, fourth on the team. An Assistant Captain for Brown last year, and the team's Captain this year, Ford finished his career with 47 points, on 15 goals and 32 assists.
A First Team All-Ivy selection this year, Ford was also the recipient of the 2004 ECAC Best Defensive Defenseman Award, while earning Honorable Mention All-ECAC recognition. With 15 points in ECAC competition, Ford ranked 5th in the ECAC in defenseman scoring. He also ranked 11th in the league in power-play points with 11 power-play points.
