Danis Named co-MVP of AHL All-Star Game

Former Brown hockey standout Yann Danis '04 (Saint-Jerome, QUE), currently playing with the Hamilton Bulldogs, the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, was named co-MVP of the 2006 AHL All-Star Game.

Danis and Manitoba Moose goaltender Wade Flaherty were named co-winners of the Rbk Hockey Most Valuable Player award at the Rbk Hockey All-Star Classic, which was played on Wednesday, February 1, at the MTS Center in Manitoba.

Both netminders played for the Canadian AHL All-Star team, which defeated the Planet USA AHL All-Stars, 9-4. Danis and Flaherty each stopped 12 of 13 shots with Flaherty playing the first period and Danis playing the second.

In 25 games with Hamilton, Danis currently has a 2.73 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

In other All-Star action, Gerry Burke '05 (Milton, MA), who is currently playing with the Toledo Storm (ECHL) played on the American All-Star Team for the 2006 ECHL All-Star game on January 25. The American All-Stars were defeated, 7-6, by the National All-Stars, but Burke registered an assist on the fifth goal scored by his team. In 36 games with Toledo, he currently has 19 points (5g, 14a) and leads the team with a "+10" rating.
