Brown University senior Hobey Baker Candidate Yann Danis (Saint Jerome, Quebec) was honored as the ECAC Co-Goaltender of the Week (1/5), helping to lead the Bears to an ECAC sweep of RPI (1-0) and Union (4-1) with a total of 60 saves in the two games. The honor for Danis marks the 10th time in his career, and the third time this season, he has been named ECAC Goalie of the Week.
On Friday night at RPI, Danis helped the Bears snap a four-game skid with a 1-0 win, Brown's first at Houston Fieldhouse since 1996. He made 30 saves, including 12 in the third period, to earn his fourth shutout of the year and 12th shutout of his career. The next night at Union, Danis stopped 30 of 31 shots, including 14 of 15 in the second period and 12 in the third period.
Danis currently leads the nation in both save percentage (.954) and goals against average (1.542), in addition to shutouts (4).
Freshman Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, Ontario), a two-time ECAC Rookie of the Week this season, made his third appearance on the ECAC Honor Roll. The Bears' leading scorer with 20 points, he posted three points over the weekend, including an assist on the winning goal at RPI and a goal and an assist in the win over Union.
Senior Assistant Captain Brent Robinson (Pointe Claire, QUE) is making his first appearance on the ECAC Honor Roll this year. The second-leading scorer on the team with 17 points, he played a part in all four Brown goals at Union, including scoring the game-winning goal, while assisting on the other three.
After six straight road games, the ECAC-leading Bears return home to Meehan Auditorium, where they have a 21-2-5 record in their last 28 games, for a league series with Colgate (Friday) and Cornell (Saturday).
